Who I am
With my Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, I spent nearly 30 years of my career as a civil engineer and business owner. I gained extensive experience with public works projects and long-term capital planning—skills that are directly relevant to the Port Commissioner position. Over the last nine months, I have developed a deep understanding of the ins and outs of the Port—the growth it generates for our economy, and the jobs it creates for Skagit County. My technical expertise combined with practical experience uniquely equips me to guide the Port’s growth and serve our community.
As a civil engineer and local business owner, I delivered cost-effective solutions to public projects across Skagit County and the Pacific Northwest. I’ve managed budgets, navigated regulations, led teams, and helped businesses grow. Now, I’m putting that experience to work for the Port of Skagit.

I am an active member and former President of the Northwest Washington Woodturners, and also an active member of Hole in the Wall Kayak Club, Whatcom Association of Kayak Enthusiasts, and Forgotten Children’s Fund. I am a former Board member of the Washington Association of Sewer and Water Districts. Once this campaign is over, I plan to increase my involvement with Habitat for Humanity, continuing my commitment to public service.
I have lived in Skagit County for nearly 30 years with my husband, Scott Jackson, and our rescue Huskies. I enjoy gardening, kayaking, woodturning and traveling.
Why I’m running
I am the best qualified candidate for the Port of Skagit Commissioner District 2 position. I was appointed by my fellow Commissioners to fill the vacancy left by the untimely passing of my predecessor, and now am running for the remainder of the term. I believe in the Port of Skagit’s role as a driver of good jobs, business opportunities, and smart growth. From supporting local farms through the Genuine Skagit Valley label, to expanding rural broadband, and redeveloping the SWIFT Center in Sedro-Woolley, the Port is building a stronger future for all of us. I plan to continue supporting these initiatives and the Port’s mission of economic development for Skagit County.
I am passionate about long term planning for all of the Port facilities. Looking ahead, I’m focused on:
- Job creation through smart growth
- Redevelopment of key community spaces (SWIFT Center, La Conner Marina)
- Building a stronger Skagit County
- Support for local farmers
- Expanding rural broadband access
