Northwest Washington Woodturners (a Chapter of the American Association of Woodturners)
The Northwest Washington Woodturners provides education and social support for woodturners in the Northwest Washington region. Their primary goal is to provide a forum for turners of all skill levels to exchange knowledge, ideas, and information about safe woodturning.
I have been a member since 2007 and currently serve as the Membership and Social Events Chair. I previously served as Treasurer, Vice President, and President. I enjoy attending classes and turning tops for children at events, including the Mount Vernon Kids’ Art Festival.

Hole in the Wall Paddling Club
Hole in the Wall Paddling Club is a non-profit kayaking organization based in Anacortes, WA. They offer day paddles, training clinics, and extended overnight camping trips in the beautiful waters of Washington, British Columbia, and beyond.
My husband, Scott and I, have been members for many years and have taken several of their skills training classes. Scott, recently completed their leadership training program, and we lead a trip to the Broughton Archipelago this summer.
Forgotten Children’s Fund
The Forgotten Children’s Fund is a volunteer organization that works to give deserving children and their families a truly Merry Christmas. For the last four years I have been an “elf” on one of Santa’s delivery teams in Skagit County, along with several of my neighbors. We coordinate with the families, organize the delivery routes, and distribute toys and bicycles on Christmas Eve.
Last year, the Forgotten Children’s Fund delivered over 20,000 gifts to deserving children and families in Western Washington! They helped over 750 families and approximately 2100 children. Our team delivered presents to 23 children in nine families in Skagit County.

Whatcom Association of Kayak Enthusiasts (WAKE) is a Bellingham-based non-profit sea kayaking group which has been initiating trips and educating kayakers since 1984. WAKE leaders initiate single- and multi-day kayak trips, in northern Washington and British Columbia.
WAKE is the caretaker of the Lummi Island DNR (Department of Natural Resources) campsite and last April’s work party included pizza (compliments of my husband and me). Our most recent trip was to Sucia Island from Washington Park.
